The Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda in New York serves as an adjunct of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in the overall task of promoting and protecting the national interests of Antigua, Barbuda and its citizens in its Northeast jurisdiction.

 

The Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda in New York was established in August 2004. Among its many responsibilities, the Consulate performs the following functions:

  • Issuing passports and other forms of travel documents;
  • Issuing visas to non-Antiguans and Barbudans requiring such document
  •  Provides information to returning nationals
  • Deportation and repatriation
  • Assists and protects the interests of Antigua and Barbuda nationals- including students and other migrant workers- within the limits permitted by international law.
  • Performs registration services, including those for births and details, solemnize marriages and conserve estates of deceased nationals.
  • Creates or develops a demand for Antigua and Barbuda exports, promotes and protects its trade and other economic interests.
  • Promotes economic development/investments for Antigua and Barbuda.
  • Reports on commercial, financial and other economic developments in its jurisdiction.
  • Examines and certifies invoices and documents covering trade and investments to Antigua and Barbuda.
  • Administers in appropriate cases the implementation of Antigua and Barbuda laws and regulations abroad concerning citizenship, immigration, trade, navigation and commerce.
  • Performs notaries and, in proper cases, other legal services.
  • Maintains an updated and confidential registry of Antigua and Barbuda nationals.
  • Keeps Antigua and Barbuda nationals informed of events of national interest.
  • Performs any other functions entrusted to a consular post by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.
